Meet our new Artists in Residence for August–October:

‍Sabrina Herbosa Reyes, Louis DeVaughn Nelson (HΓ–KÜM Arts), Katharine Wyatt, Christina Massey

‍Come by, meet the artists, explore their work, and get to know what’s happening at Noo Arts House this season.‍

‍Opening Reception: Saturday, August 15, 11 AM–5 PM‍

‍12-1 PM  β€”  Tribe and Vibe Collection (Nathaniel and Janelle Roots) – Workshop‍ ‍

‍Tribe and Vibe Collection is a community-centered organization dedicated to sustainability education and indoor food growing. In partnership with Noo Arts, they are transforming the rustic kitchen into an interactive learning space for indoor gardening.‍ ‍

‍Saturday, August 15, 12 – 1PM: Join a hands-on workshop exploring indoor gardening and hydroponic growing systems. Participants will sow seeds, learn about sustainable food production, and take home a seed-starting cup to inspire them to grow their own food.‍‍ ‍

‍ 1 PM β€”  Reading and discussion - Journeys and the Longing for Home:  Natalya Sukhonos and Ian Singleton

‍Writers Ian Singleton and Natalya Sukhonos explore how journeys, displacement, memory, and the longing for home shape their work. They will read selections from their writing and discuss questions of home, wandering, and return, followed by a conversation and audience Q&A.‍ ‍

3:45 PM  β€”  Site-Specific Sound Performance by MAYSUN: Space as Instrument‍ ‍

‍Join guest artist Etienne Mason (MAYSUN) for a site-specific outdoor sound performance on the lawn in front of Noo Arts House. Using environmental sounds from Governors Island, Mason transforms the surrounding soundscape into evolving textures with a custom electronic instrument created by the artist.‍ ‍

Mothership NYC Tarot Show:
Coinciding with our Open House on August 15, we are excited to unveil a new chapter of our ongoing Tarot Exhibition. This presentation features a new selection of works by Mothership NYC, an international artist collective based in Brooklyn.‍ ‍

‍Paintings by Uliana Bondarenko‍ ‍
NYC-based artist Uliana Bondarenko presents her latest paintings in our gallery space. Exploring memory, emotion, identity, and perception, her works make invisible inner experiences tangible through color, texture, layering, and distortion. The exhibition invites viewers to look inward and connect with their own emotional landscapes.‍ ‍

‍Room Installation by Guest Artist O’Hai Đinh‍ ‍
Guest artist O’Hai Đinh presents a site-responsive sound installation at Noo Arts House, artistically reflecting on the 2018 Tham Luang cave rescue in Thailand.‍

‍ 6 PM β€” Flaming Creatures Parade with Sally Beauti Twin
Join our Artist-in-Residence Sally Beauti Twin for her signature eco-luminary art parade across Nolan Park and Colonels Row. Participants will create their own costumes, luminaries, and puppets before joining a house-to-house procession celebrating the flora, fauna, and celestial bodies of Governors Island.
